About the BGA

In 2018, we started as a small group of 8 players looking to play some weekend golf with a competitive twist. Little did we know, there were others out there just like us. So we set a mission to create something unique, an experience to look forward to, and a community to feel a part of.

Today, we continue on our journey to create the largest community of amateur golfers in Canada.

Round Signups & Payments

Signups open 6 weeks before each event. Payment is due at the time of registration.
Signups close 2 weeks before each event
ClubLink Members only pay for skins at signup ($20 + fees). Reciprocal/cart fees billed separately. applicable at Clublink properties.
Each event is limited to 120 spots – first come, first served.

League Format

12 of 14 events are Individual Stroke Play
Spring Scramble & Member-Guest tournaments have different formats
80% of handicap index played at all events

Flights

Approximate flight allocation as follows:
- Champ Flight: +2.7 - 7.0 (Black Tees)
- A Flight: 7.1 - 9.4 (Black Tees)
- B Flight: 9.5 - 11.9 (Black Tees)
- C Flight: 12.0-15.4 (White Tees)
- D Flight: 15.5-19.9 (White Tees)
- E Flight: 20.0 - 32.2 (White Tees)
You will remain in your assigned flight for the entire year, regardless of index changes.

Net Stableford Scoring System

Points are allocated based on a player's net score (after strokes are applied). Points are allocated as below:
- 0 points: 2+ strokes over par
- 1 point: 1 stroke over par
- 2 points: par
- 3 points: 1 stroke under
- 4 points: 2 strokes under
- 5 points: 3 strokes under

All events are “Individual Stroke Play” at 80% of your handicap index
Season-long and weekly games will be flighted.

Weekly Games & Prizes

Skins ($2,000-$3,000 pool per tournament)
Low Net (Top 3 receive merchandise prize)
Major Tournaments have elevated prizing and points allocation, as well as special contests and activations

- Closest to the pin at every event wins a beverage gift box filled with goodies
Jack Links Closest to the Pin 🍖

Virtual Golf Club - Closest to the Pin in 2 Shots ⛳
- On a selected hole at each event, the winner receives a $200 gift card to Virtual Golf Club (indoor golf, lessons, club fitting, and more).
“Carlsberg Longest Drive Challenge” 🍺
- Longest drive winners get to choose from 8 different Carlsberg products (shipped to your home).
  - 1 winner per tees (2 per tournament)
Breakfast Beer “Shortest Drive” Challenge 🍻
- Hit the worst drive? You win!
  - Shortest drive winner (ball must move forward) gets:
  - 12-pack of Breakfast Beer (Non-Alcoholic).
  - $50 merchandise credit as a bonus if you capture it on video and tag on social
$5,000 Longest Putt Challenge – Presented by RBC Doug Leach 💰 (Premium and Elite Members Only)
- Each event crowns a longest putt winner.
  - That winner competes at the next event (before play) for a $5,000 cash prize!
  - This runs across all 14 events – $70,000 in potential winnings!
Casa De Campo Trip Giveaway - Travel Edge 🌴 (Elite Members Only)
- Survivor-style elimination contest.
  - Weekly eliminations from May 19 - Sept 22.
  - Win your flight at any event to re-enter the draw.
  - Finalists (12-20 members) will be drafted live on Oct 5 at TPC Toronto.

National Golf League (NGL)
- BGA selected to participate in Golf Canada’s National Golf League!
- 6 rounds designated as NGL qualifiers. Best 4 out of 6 rounds count.
- 9-hole Aggregate Net Stableford leaderboard to determine winners.
- Top 5+ BGA members qualify for Ontario regional finals in October.
- Win & advance to the National Final, played before the 2026 RBC Canadian Open in a tour-like setting!

Tournament Registration

Signups open 6 weeks before each event and close 2 weeks before (4-week window)
Clublink & Golf North members pay for skins only + any reciprocals
Tournament capacity is limited to 120 players to ensure optimal pace of play
Tournament fee includes green fee, cart, range (if applicable), and skins. Skins may be opted out by emailing info@golfbga.ca

Weather Policy

Tournaments are rain or shine. Players must show up to the tournament if they've registered or they will be marked DNF.
If inclement weather forces a cancellation, a rain cheque may be issues and the tournament scoring will be based on the holes completed by the field

Pairing & Tee Time Requests

After signups close, an email will be sent to all participants to select their group and tee time (or shotgun slot). We do not accept pairing requests by email
Groups of 1-4 can be booked. Pairing requests may not be guaranteed
There are no pairing requests during playoffs

Qualification & Format

Top 120 players qualify for playoffs (Top 20 in each flight)
Playoff rounds will be net stroke play and un-flighted (70% of index)
No pairing requests will be accepted for playoffs

Playoff Prizing

Top 5 golfers will receive prizing accordingly at our year-end banquet (over $1,500 in prizing)
Top 30 awarded from prize table ($5,000+ in value)

How many events do you play?

The BGA owns and operates 14 Sunday golf tournaments at various golf courses between May and September. Our schedule consists of 10 regular season events, 1 Member-Guest, 1 Scramble, and 2 playoff events.
Do I need to be a good player to join?

We are open to all skill levels and have various flights for competition so all parties are equal. Just don't sandbag...
Do I need a Golf Canada Index to join?

A Golf Canada membership is included in your BGA membership fee so you are not required to have an active GC membership to join. Each player is required to maintain a GC index throughout the season.
How do I join?

The fastest way to join is by signing up for our waitlist. All waitlist registrants and past members will receive an official email to register for the upcoming season early in the year (usually January or February).

Can I bring a guest?

Our priority is to reserve spots for members only. However, depending on cancellations and availability, we may have spots for your guest. Please have them register to one of events by visiting our Schedule page and we will get them in space permitting! Alternatively, take advantage of our annual member-guest tournament!
Can I play with friends, or make pairing requests?

Tournament participants will receive a private link to register their group and select their tee time slot or shotgun start. Pairing requests are not accepted during playoffs.
What are benefits to being a member?
